The Best Security Suites for 2011

EDIT: i noticed that Online Armor is missing on Matousec´s list, which is most probably because there is now a new version of Online Armor that haven´t been tested yet with the new "148-test".

well the real reason Online Armor is missing is a bit murky... Online Armor temporarily disqualified

i say murky because emsisoft the current owners of OA has this to say

THANKS A LOT thathagat !
that was VERY interesting reading !

hmmm, i have also been wondering why Matousec continues to test firewalls on XP, when Vista has been there for years, and W7 was released a year ago....

anyway, i´ve tested Online Armor myself, and it passed both Comodos LeakTest (CLT) & CPIL.
the last time i tested Comodo, it didn´t pass CPIL...
so Online Armor is really good.

i´m going to start testing some more firewalls (and HIPS) on W7, not on XP....

I refuse to use a suite of any kind. I like choosing which tool I want to use for each job. I know that sometimes the suites don't cause an issue BUT when they do..........you are faced with a mess at times. Sometimes you even have to use removal tools which I have never understood. Why not just make the removal tool part of the standard uninstall?

If I have a problem with my firewall I just uninstall and it is done. With a suite it is all or nothing. I have to uninstall everything if there isn't an obvious fix and reinstall risking the same thing happening at a later date. I would much rather use MSE or Avast over any of the paid antivirus apps and there are multiple free choices for firewalls to add to that. The paid for antivirus apps also usually fail when it comes to spyware so you have to run something along with it anyway. This is JMO but I am sure there are some other out there that feel the same.
