For all Europeans -should we stay or withdraw? For those of you who are fortunate to be outside the EU, what would you do if you were inside the EU?

I think it is a bad thing to concentrate gov. power. Who elects the EU officials. Not the people I'm thinkin'. That has been a big part of our problem here in the USA over the past decades. The Feds taking more and more power away from the states. I would want to withdraw.

If i had millions of euro's/dollars/pounds. I'm going to move to Switzerland. Yes it is Europe, but not the EU. Switzerland is a neutral country. And a beautiful country with lower taxes than here in Holland.

The prime minister here is Harry Potter. I'm shaming for him as leader of a modern country....

And my vote would be to withdraw. I don't particularly like where my own government is going - similar to the direction the EU has been going in. Just that you guys in Europe have a head start.


OTOH, I'm not entirely convinced a pure Democracy is the way to go, either. To paraphrase - That can be kind of like a pack of wolves and a couple sheep voting on what to have for supper...

Not the intent of this thread, so I'll simply point out our President has committed spending packages which already exceed $100,000.00 (something like 80,000 euros) for every man, woman, and child in the USA. And he's not even close to done.

As an outsider, but one familiar with european politics, I would remain in the EU. Remember what the concept of the European Union is all about. It creates a singular economic power. Unfortunately, that also requires a European Commission.

The European Union creates an economic power, that rivals the US. That is important in a global economy.

I voted to get out - with some regret

As one of the few people old enough to be around when we as the UK joined the then EEC, now EU, I was a great supporter of the concept of an economic community in Europe. After years of membership, and trading within the community and externally, I find my views completely reversed, not by the concept itself but by the implementation, It looks like what ever happens with our national politics the end of our membership is only a matter of time.

Withdraw ASAP

The only thing i want to be part of in Europe is NATO and now the cold war is at an end thats pretty much redundant as well.

I just cant see how the EU knows whats best for me ? Not as if its based in London is it.

I cant see how the U.K can be regulated anywhere apart from the U.K. Just my view on the subject and not necessarily right.

The rulings they make have no relevance to me or my life apart from trying to conform/control everyone/everything.
