First thing to do is run a disk check see if that fixes it. What's the rest of the error message?

Go to the \user\PC1\AppData\Local\temp, and delete the contents of the temp folder, but not the folder itself. Something in that folder could be causing the problem.

If it won't let you delete the contents of that folder, log out and reboot, then log in as another user who has administrator rights. Delete the contents of the temp folder. Then log out, reboot, and log in as user PC1 and see if the problem has been solved.

Two suggestions:

1. Try a system restore first, may not work if a file corruption.
2. Create a new user, PCX with admin rights, then if this works, copy over Docs etc., and delete old PC1 user once you are satisfied when all is okay.

You could also try to go back to an restore point prior to the date/time that the problem started. This should fix this problem only, without affecting your data, or your installed programs.

But I agree with robmar0se - try creating a new user and logging in as that user. That is the most simple solution.
