Don't know about a forced date. I tried it and my hotmail account was automatically transferred to it. I don't like it as well as the Hotmail formats. The new outlook does "too much" on replies and forwards and lists those along with the original message.
I don't have problems with changes as I worked in Computers from 1962 until I retired in 96, including one assignment as a programmer at NASA - change was what continually happens when you work with them daily. But, the "new" Outlook was not a change for the better. (I don't like Win 8 either).

been having problems with it: getting the WE'VE UPDATED OUTLOOK PLEASE REFRESH YOUR BROWSER message.
If you search it, this has been going on for 1.5 years at least, with no Microsoft fix except "Update your IE" and "Clear Your Cache."
