Hi i love widows 64 bit home premium. However, i keep getting this error message when trying to install pro tools 8. It installs fine until it gets to the part where it trys to install the hardware driver then i get this message. If i click contiunue the install continues but gives me several more of these messages. When the install is done the try and open protools and while its loading i get an error message that asks me to connect hardware. Im pretty sure the problem is that error message the say the administrator has set policies.... I looke at over 100 posts but most are for xp or vista and the others just did not work. I tried UAC and i tried running the install as an administrator. I am also logged in as admin. My windows also does not have local security settings. This seems to be a popular fix but i guess home premium does not offer this.

Please help im going crazy

This is a way to fix that issue:

Method 1:

1. Open Control Panel and go to Administrative Tools.

2. In Administrative tools open Local Security Policy.

3. In Local Security Policy right click Software Restriction Policies and click “New Software Restriction Policy”.

4. Now Left click on software restriction policies and in the right-hand window you should see enforcement.

5. Double-click on enforcement and set the policy to apply to “All users except Local administrator”

Apply the changes and check if you’re able to install.

try the following:

1.Go to Start>All Programs>Accessories.
2.Right-click on Command Prompt and select "Run As Administrator".
3.In the Command Prompt window, enter the following command:

icacls "c:\ProgramData" /T /C /grant administrators:F

give that a shot.

The tool, icacls is used to display and modify Access Control List on folders and files. Basically is a list of permissions for objects such as a file or folder, and controls who can access them.

Thought it didn't help so back to the drawing board.

Its the driver

It allows me to finish the install if i just hit ok. but when i try to open it it obviously does not recognize my hardware because there is not driver. However, when i go to control panal the driver is there for my hardware and it is up to date. But that might be a different driver. I have no ideas at this point i have had this problem four three days now. I appreciate the help

Installation

Yes it finishes. However, during the install process it gives me the error but if you hit continue, it continues. But when you open it, it does not recognize hardware because it never installed the driver. It just skips the driver install and continues. I also tried to download and install a driver update but it does the same thing. It wont let me install the update

the system administrator has set policies that prevent your installati

This is my third day trying to figure this out. Im trying to install protools and i keep getting this error when it goes to install my device driver. I have windows7 home addition. There is no option for local security policies in administrative tools. I also tried UAC but there is no option to turn it off just to move it down. I also tried installing as administrator to no avail. This error is all over the internet. I also tried registry booster. It fixed alot of errors but it still does not work.

Can anyone solve this problem if you can you will be helping alot of people

Where did you get your OS image? download or purchase?

Was it a clean install or upgrade?

Any registry editing?

Have you contacted the vendor? Check and make sure you have the 64 bit program.
