I bought a new battery so I know its not the battery......
Old dell (6320, love it). Tried all the gyrations in other posts, removed drivers, updated BIOS, different chargers, etc.......
I plug in any charger (tried three) and it is recognized for about three seconds, then goes to "plugged in, not charging". This just happened recently so the battery was about 50% charged for a while. I was able to update the bios to the latest version (A19 or so I think).
Looking closely at the charging port on the back of the laptop, the plastic pin totally broke off, leaving only the internal connectors. So the power supply still works, but will not charge the battery for some reason. Some people have posted about a "signal wire" the middle wire on the charger plug itself but not sure if its not making contact or what......
What's weird to me is the initial recognition of a charger and then poof, it doesn't recognize it.
I bought a docking station on ebay thinking that will have another charging port and I can use that-not sure if that will work but it comes tomorrow as a cheap experiment.
Any other ideas? A new refurb is 160 or so and don't want to spend that just trying to get a charging port to work again.
Thanks!
