Traditional singing of Sami people from Lapland is called Joik. Joik has surprising similarities with native American folk music. I feel home sick listening good Joik.

In Swedish Talent show finals broadcasted yesterday the surprise winner was a Sami man, singing a Joik dressed in traditional Sami costume (the embroidery in the costume tells from which family and village he comes, a bit like Scottish Tartan).

I am so extremely proud that native culture back home in Scandinavia gets this kind of publicity and is accepted so widely. Jon Henrik got 29% of all phone votes from this Joik:
