Lol... yeah, back to paste. The "old" Shin-Etsu will have to do... for now. I was really looking forward to the Indigo though... can't say I'm not more than just a little disappointed I didn't get to see that stuff in action.

I'm the O/P and I would like those that answered my #1 post thank you. I have no idea what the rest of this is all about. What I did do was clean off all the O.E. stuff and installed #5 because I trust it. When I do get everything up and running I will do some testing just for s/g to see if the new stuff that is out their changes anything. Thanks again.

ezeht owned this thread with the rockin post comparing a few compounds... and that's where I came in. I love thermal paste. Used just about all of em at some point. I was under the impression you were going to take some of ezeht's superb advise and consider another product, one perhaps mentioned in this thread?

You said you had AS, but after reading ezeht's post I thought you might reconsider, right? I worked with Indigo Xtreme two weeks ago. Even when things go right it's not an effortless process. I thought you might benefit from my experience? I'm sorry you did not.

I have been running Prime95 100% 20 min. cpu temps 78 to 80 deg.c with 2 stock fans on the H50. Tomorrow I should get some Noctua P14 and give them a try on the H50. O/C 4.0 Intel 960 3.2

Also, check the RPM of your pump. It has to run 100% mine runs about 1400-1450.

Thanks for your input. My pump speed is 1418 at the present time. Just did another 100% 10 min. high cpu temp. 85 to 89 c. room temp 27 c. Give me a idea what temps I should get with that load.

I'm not sure what your vcore is, but my machine would be around 60 +/- 3. You should not be getting temps like that. I would suggest rechecking the backplate and make sure the screws are completely seated in the backplate. The rubber gaskets go with the end with the tip on it toward the inside of the ring. On the 1155 and 1156 the screws go in the inside holes. Guessing now that yours go on the outside holes. Make sure the pump is sitting directly on top of the CPU screw it down to where you can put some pressure on it with your hand and it will not move.

BTW, the temp I gave you was overclocked at 4.4 vcore 1.288.

EDIT: I think your screws go in the inside hole of the retention bracket.

Yes, vcore is just what my MB calls it. It is voltage to the CPU. My CPU is different than yours. what does your MB set the voltage at on optimized default? If I had mine as high as yours I would be much higher temps.. Try bringing it down as much as you think you can.

Intel specs max 1.375. I turned turbo boost off and c1e off and I'm down to 82 to 85c @100% load. I will lower the volts and see what happens. Thanks for following along. I have read on some forums that the 1366 does run hot. There are so many specs that I have seen for temps I don't know what to think. I have already check the mounting of the cooler and as far as I can see it is as it should be. The outside holes line up.

I have just been reading on newegg feedback about your chip. If you have it overclocked at 4.4, according to what I am reading you may not be far off. Some of the guys are talking about stock idle at 36 and prime at 75. It seems to be a hot running chip.

According to what I read at stock settings you should idle around 35-36 and they are getting pretty high on prime with aftermarket coolers.

Not that I have ever seen. I guess you have to do it the old fashioned way.What is the max temp on that chip? I think I would set it at stock and test it there. Those results should give you an idea how high you can go. You can only increase the voltage to where your cooling can keep up.

I put cup volts on auto and check cpu-z and was set to 1.4. I dropped it down to 1.28 and will give it a try. At 1.28 idle is 45 c. Going to run another test and go to bed. If that don't work I will set it back to default and slap it again with prime and see what happens. Thanks for all your help. After those test I hitting the sack.

Hope it works for you. I'll help however I can, but I have very limited experience with overclocking. All I really know is that most people are not limited by their chip, they are limited by cooling. That's why at the world championships they use liquid nitrogen.
