Think I made a mistake-User names?

Win7x64. Just got a asus laptop, same os. Made a small homegroup, just desktop PC and new laptop-usinga Cisco EA3500 router.

But, I wasn't thinking ahead when I logged into the laptop or the first time. I used the same user name as the desktop.

Is that an issue for sharing, etc? Or anything?

Their are nop issues except the stupid message about the DNS server not detetced-which seems a bit bogus.
System restore also fails even in safe mode
No that is not the issue. It is perfectly fine to have the same username and the same password on every computer. That is what I have on all my computer, Windows or Mac.

But your problem may be with trying to use the Home Group system. Get ride of the Home Group stuff and use the Workgroup settings. Each computer does need a Different Computer name.
