Ok, so I want to try and OC my AMD FX-6100 Zambezi 3.3GHz Socket AM3+ 95W Six-Core Desktop Processor FD6100WMGUSBX - Newegg.com

I have a stock heatsink right now but want to upgrade it before trying to OC obviously, but need something that can fit into my case as well which is this: Rosewill CHALLENGER Black Gaming ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Newegg.com

I have 8gb of standard DDR3 ram and this is my PSU: SeaSonic M12II 650 SS-650AM 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Semi-modular Power Supply - Newegg.com

if you have any insight as to how to OC it and give me step by step instructions i would be very pleased.

if you need more info just let me know and ill be pleased to provide it.

and thank you for the help!

With the motherboard you have, do yourself a favor and don't. That board was never made for the FX series CPU's, and all Gigabyte did (and Asus and MSI as well) is change the socket and bios so that they would accept the FX CPU's. Also ther eis a good possibility that you could cook/kill the VRM circuitry,

Voltage regulator module - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

as it was not designed for the extra power requirements that overclocking would require (lack of a heatsink over it doesn't help either).

Would having that RAM instead of my current low MHz standard RAM? Plus any insight on a good heatsink that will fit?

The 990fxa well run the fx6100 nicely. The 990fxa's can have NB temp issues, you may want to change out the oem heat sink. I put a Thermaltake copper heat sink with fan on mine and it solved my NB over heating problems.

Yeah he meant North Bridge. I would also look to purchasing as high a Mhz ram as you can afford as with the new mobo and future upgrades it will serve you well even if you can't fully exploit all of it's Mhz now, maybe 2133 Mhz.

I have this Board I would get the R2,0 OR 2,0 gen3 that comes with PCI -E 3.0

http://microcenter.com/product/399286/SABERTOOTH_990FX_R20_AM3_ATX_AMD_Motherboard

You have a store in Detroit so ......I'm not sure if you are near there but that is a way better board then the first one they revised it in a few ways
