5 - Update your Direct X files - Contrary to popular belief, just because Windows 7 is DX11 capable doesn’t mean it has the latest DX9 files!!! Most game issues can be fixed by simply updating the DX files.

I didn't know this, but I just download the lasted DirectX to 9.0c and it is giving internal error everytime.

Sorry, i meant the listing of how to access program compatibility on the first page of the thread, the link, that listed three options (do it yourself, troubleshoot wizard, and registry changes)

My Computer

OS
Windows 7 64 bit
It depends, but for games I would say do it yourself (Option 1). It's fairly simple just right click the game's icon and choose a mode, click apply/ok and that should be it.

A) Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for box. (see screenshot below)

B) Click on the drop down menu arrow and select which version of Windows the program was made for. (see screenshot below)
NOTE: Always pick the latest Windows version the program was written for to have a better chance of it running properly in Windows 7

"Here's an example - You have Fallout 3 (DX10), Windows 7 (DX10 & 11) an ATI X1950 PRO or Nvidia GT 8400 (DX9 cards) - well….Fallout 3 will run in DX9 because the video cards are only capable of running in DX9 mode."

I dont know about nvidia GT8400 but as far as i know geforce 8 series support DX10. With 8800GS I played DX10 games in DX 10 mode (devil may cry 4, resident evil 5 etc.)

Re: Games List

Dear All:

Good afternoon from Canada ! I hope this finds yo and yours well.

Sygnus, my name is Indy, and I disagree with a couple of entries on list of games. The first is Medieval 2, which is working quite well on my Windows 7 Home Edition, as well as all its mods. Secondly, Empire: Total War is also working on the same OS as Napoleon.

Medieval 2 is about three years old now, and it's still working like a charm!

Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!!!

Sincerely yours always,

Indy.

Hi ColIndyJones, and welcome to sevenforums.

I'm not sure what your point or post is about but please be aware that this thread is only for tips on troubleshooting game issues, and not troubleshooting, for fixing other issues. I would also urge you to create your own thread on any issues you may be having.

Sygnus, my name is Indy, and I disagree with a couple of entries on list of games. The first is Medieval 2, which is working quite well on my Windows 7 Home Edition, as well as all its mods. Secondly, Empire: Total War is also working on the same OS as Napoleon.

With regards to your disagreement of the games list, if you're refering to this one - Windows 7 Game Compatibility list – Compiled by forum members I have no control over it, nor can I varify every game on it. It is a list compiled by members of the forums and their experience at the time the list was compiled. If you feel like something needs to be added or clarified there post it there.

Again, this is not the thread for that debate.

With regards to listing you system specs in this thread, there are correct procedures for those to be listed as well.......

http://www.sevenforums.com/gaming/77293-tips-troubleshooting-game-issues.html - page 1, second paragraph, last sentence.....
Please see this tutorial on filling out system specs as well as my How To Ask For Help guide.

Thanks.

Dear Sygnus:

Good evening from Canada! I hope this finds you and yours well.

It is a gaming issue. Okay, let's say I'm playing Napoleon. It suddenly goes black and crashes back to the desktop then I get the error message. I go back to the game again and, again, I get the error message. On the third time, it gives up.

Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly for your welcome!

Sincerely yours always,

Indy.
