I guess I have more than a handful of machines in my network and I can't seem to keep up with all the IP addresses - computers, printers, VOIP phones, switches, Mobile Phones, etc...

Is there a recommended freeware that allows me to better get an overview of my network to identify machines and the associated IP addy? I tired to use Windows Network Map and it only maps the computers.

Your routers configuration page should show you what devices are connected and what IP address has been given to them :)

Local Network Status

Under status> Local Network, you should see a similar setup as shown in the link above. Click on 'DHCP Client Table' to view all connected devices that have obtained an IP address.

Hopefully this helps,
Josh :)

Go to this site and download the free IP address tracker: Free IPAM Tools . It's been a handy free tool to me for managing multiple subnets, just create and name a new subnet and scan away. Also, a little network documentation goes a long way. Try using a spreadsheet to document things like printers, servers etc that have static IPs and then maybe write in your DHCP scope.
