A friend of mine has a huge iTunes library which is unfortunately very messy which means that many songs are twice in the library but in reality they exist only once.

Is there a tool that can find these "empty" duplicates and remove them automatically?

Thanks for your help!

Yes, I did. I can get a list of all duplicates from there but there is no possibility to scan the library for "empties" and remove them.

However, I might have found a tool ("DeDuper") that can help to do this: Scripts for iTunes for Windows.

Since I have myself sometimes "empties" in my iTunes library and since I know the same also for other people (just not as massive as it is the case with the friend I mentioned before) I think it is pretty poor that Apple does not provide such a function.
