Toshiba Portable EHDD keeps disconnecting...

I recently purchased a 640 GB Toshiba Portable External Drive. Lately, it keeps randomly disconnecting from my TV and computer. Why does it keep doing that and how can I make it stop?

Go to this link and read the negative reviews, some of which mirror your problem. There appears to be a reliability problem with the drive. My recommendation is to return it for replacement or money back. There are more reliable large 2.5 inch USB/eSATA drives and reliable cases, see http://www.newegg.com

Are any of those drives that you mentioned Toshiba or Seagate, because I will NEVER buy a WD drive, as every one I have had so far has failed on me within a year. Seagate is my only 100% reliable brand.

O and can Newegg be trusted. Their prices seem a bit too low...
