Post the scan results,
Manually Update them before running full scans,
Try not to use your computer while the scans are running, (one at a time of course).
Uncheck the box to Active Free trial from the final install options,

(I can't run MalwareBytes - it has a big conflict with NIS):

What was the exact error with I assume Norton Internet Security "NIS" ?
That I know of Norton should not have any issues with Malwarebytes,
You can download any scanner using Safe Mode with Networking at startup if having issues downloading it,
Run it using safe mode with networking and repeat the scan restarting normally as you always do,

All I remember was Norton raised several red warning messages that it was incompatible with MalwareBytes (Norton Internet Security 2013). That's when I switched to SuperAntiSpyware and haven't had a conflict since.

Oops, missed this message. I can't run MalwareBytes because of a conflict with Norton IS. However, I have SuperAntiSpyware Pro running and a scan didn't turn up anything. I don't have Adwcleaner installed, by the way.

Let's see if cleaning temp files and Java will stop the problem:


Please download TFC by Old Timer TFC - Temp File Cleaner by OldTimer - Geeks to Go Forums and save it to your desktop.
Save any unsaved work. TFC will close ALL open programs including your browser!
Double-click on TFC.exe to run it. If you are using Vista/Windows 7 right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator.
Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process and let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Important! If TFC prompts you to reboot, please do so immediately. If not prompted, manually reboot the machine anyway to ensure a complete clean.

I downloaded TFC but I need to get some work done on my PC tonight so it won't be until tomorrow night (Wednesday) before I can run it. Will reply back to you at that time.

OK, I ran TFC and it said it removed over 1G of temp files, but the desktop did not disappear nor did it produce a results file or ask for a reboot.

What now?

You should reboot manually if TFC didn't ask for it.

Did a reboot and didn't notice anything different, no TFC scan file on the desktop, etc. Now what.

Also, why can't I physically see the DOMStore folder when I've got my options set to show hidden folders?

Have you unchecked:
Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)

That might help you to see them, but I would not do anything with them until you are directed to do so. The info in there might be important to the cleanup process.

Unchecked 'Hide protected operating system files' and that did the trick (not going to mess with them but it's nice to go directly to the folder(s) without having to do a search on an item).
