Trouble formatting windows 7 and installing windows xp

Hi, I have a HP Mini 311-1033CA. I have slipstreamed the required sata driver and got to the screen asking to format the partition NTFS style. After reaching 100%, it'll restart the computer (as expected) but boots back into windows 7. All of my data is intact...any solutions?

I am installing windows xp pro sp3. I am also using an external cd drive

Where did you get the XP disc ? Could you post a pic of disk management ?

Are you planning to dual boot the two OS"s as you need to say so otherwise we don't know what you're doing. I'm guessing you are since you refer to you data being intact since it would need to be backed up if you're overwriting Win7.

Are you following Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP?

It's far easier to virtualize XP from within Win7 using XP Mode, Virtual Player, VMWare, etc. freeware than to fight new hardware to install an XPired OS.

Are you using SP3 installer in IDE mode? You'll need the AHCI drivers for XP slipstreamed in otherwise.
