Trouble going from ethernet to wireless...

Hey Gokay, how about this thought: Still have a problem, maybe you can help, but as I am so weak with wifi and networking, I'm not sure I'm making sense with what I have to suggest. With the netgear adapter setup, my computer recognizes my camera as an access point (camera access point has a username and and a PW) as it shows as FZ1000 (camera model) in the systems tray (along with other neighborhood access points.) My problem is I don't know how to get the computer to use this access point. Right now, with netgear installed, the computer is using my router as an access point...as it should...don't know how to switch to the camera's point. I think this is just the opposite of what we have been trying to do. That is: Instead of having the camera recognize the router (computer), have the computer recognize the camera (don't need computer username or PW).

Click/right click the wireless icon on notification area, and select the camera (FZ1000) then enter the password set up in your camera. Does this work? I am not familiar with the netgear software, with built-in Windows wireless it is like this.

Believe it or not, we're finally getting closer to the end of this convoluted project. As you suggested, I right clicked the FZ1000 icon, and finally connected the camera to the computer via wifi...Yeah team! However, there is just one problem remaining. Although they are connected, I'm having a problem following Panasonic's instructions on just how to get the pics from the camera to the computer. But a solution should be forthcoming when I wait at least a 1/2 hour to speak to a Panny tech to have them walk me through the process. Going fishing Monday and Tuesday, so I won't be able to get to Panny until Wednesday. Will let you know how if finally turns out.

Good job :) did you check the manual yet? There is a page for this. You may be needing a Panasonic software or simply browse to Network section (left pane) of Windows Explorer.

I did look at the manual, but decided that I've had enough frustrations (and errors,) that I will wait for Panny to guide me through.

A panasonic tech did guide me through the wifi hookup and we only succeeded once, but not again. The hookup was accomplished by making the camera an access point that the computer recognized. Again, panny upped the tech level, but I haven't heard from them.

Any update on this?

Was able to get the computer to recognize the camera as an access point, but still couldn't get username and pw right. However, I had to return the adapter and things are on hold until I get a new one. Unfortunately, an upper level panny tech finally got me, but we couldn't do anything because I no longer had the adapter. But did learn, for sure, that the username and pw I've been having trouble with are the username and pw for the computer and the username should be one word. He said that the Guest account, the only one word username acct on the computer, may not be working because it is not an admin acct.
When I have an adapter again (Mon or tue), I'll give it a try.

OK, I'm back and will be contacting Panny upper level tech to see what they can do. But, if they don't get back to me today, then I'll have to wait until next week. Nonetheless, a re-cap of my problems:

1. Can get the computer to recognize the camera as an access point.
2. During the final stage of the hook-up (after recognition,) when asked for username and PW (which, BTW, definitely is the computer's account's username and the PW I use to log onto that account, can't get any combo to be accepted.
3. One of the problems is that the username is two words and the camera only allows for a one word username. Valid suggestions were to
a. Change username to a single word or make a new single word account, but
b. I can't do this due to a f*^k up when I tried to first change the username and didn't do it correctly. Consequently, whenever a new account is made, it won't let me log-in because the computer can't load (find) the user profile. I have seen the fix for this, but it is too complicated for me to do without help from a knowledgeable source who can walk me through it.
4. I have a Guest account (username=Guest, and I know the login PW) that I also made into an administrative account. Unfortunately, even though it is a single word account with a known PW, this effort didn't work: "Incorrect username or PW, try again" Damn, I really thought that this would have worked.
5. There may be, as some have suggested, network or IP or workgroup problems, but as you all should know by now, I'm a dud when it comes to these subjects.
