In your case I would guess HD failure or memory.

thanks for the tests you suggested the memory test work and showed nothing however the hard drive test didn't work I'm guessing because of the RAID 1 setup, however i used the built in diagnostic on the bottom of the f12 drop down list and the hard drive error test which test both drives came up clean so with both the hard drive and memory clean I'm worried as to what could have caused the problem. i mean with the drive formatted and no errors in memory or in the hard drive. I'm right now running any of the different diagnostics that revolve around my problem but so far they are all coming up clean. i just hope that they find a problem just so i can use my computer again. Battery checks out L# caches all checks out fans, clock, timer, controllers BIOS all check out.

looking over the error list again, when i started up the windows loading program when it asks where i wanted the OS to be on there were three partitions one was called OS and another was called recovery and i forget what the third one was called. is it possible that the problem resides in either one of the two as neither of them were formatted.

After you are done with the Hardware tests and you are satisifed with the results
(memory must be run for at least 6-8 passes)
look at the other causes for your BC Code.
For example make a system restore point and uninstall your AV and install Microsoft Security Essentials, for a test or turn off indexing etc.

um i can't. A few days ago i uninstalled windows because the problem had gotten to the point where i couldn't access anything and more and more BSODs kept popping up. this last problem occurred when i was trying to reinstall windows preventing me from finalizing the installation of windows. and as i stated earlier i had completed the memory test though i did it before the other tests and both the memory and hard drive test came up clean, no errors. oh and i had let the memory test run all day and night for at least 11 passes though i think it might have been 14.

I think that it can be.
Usually we tell those with BSOD to run the antivirus as a virus can definately cause BSOD.

also every time i managed to log on in the last few days before i wiped the hard drive Norton internet security continued to be deactivated. however then how can i continue to get a BSOD after i have reformatted the Hard drive? could it move to another partition say the recovery partition or the OEM (reserved) partition? and then continue to operate from that to prevent me from installing windows?

I will only answer the part of the question that I know. Yes a virus can move from one partition to another. Dont know what it can do from there, however.

nope i didn't i just was finally able to reload windows. however the day after the problem had returned. now every time i reboot and any time i attempt to go to safe mode or to windows i get rerouted into the start up repair program which than is unable to fix the problem and tries to send it to Microsoft.

now here's what I'm wondering could it be a problem with the hard drive?
after i reloaded windows and after the computer restarted the main hard drive on the boot screen following the BIOS screen showed a red error sign next to it. yet i got to the desktop just fine and was able to update the computer just fine though there was a message that kept popping up in the lower right side of the taskbar from the software that manages the drives. yet after i upgraded the software it began by rebuilding the drive and then repairing it.

the problem did start after the computer fell onto soft carpet however the computer does have protection from falls. since then the drive software has been analyzing and repairing the drive. yet i'm confused if it finishes repairing the drive and says it is finished then why the next morning does it behave as if nothing was fixed? and why does every time i use the built in diagnostic programme does it comes up clean?

i guess i was wondering before i go and buy a new hard drive hoping that it would solve the problem if there was another alternative? i mean it would be obvious that it was a hard drive error that couldn't be internally fixed if something came out and stated that, but it all seems vague and behind the surface which makes it seem more of a virus

i guess I'm asking if anyone has a thought or clue as to what is going on

i have two Western Digital Hard Drives tied together in a RAID 1 setup.

all it shows is a blank screen with text at the bottom saying
DlGDIAC 5.04f -Data Lifeguard Diagnostics
NO DRIVE FOUND
ERROR/STATUS CODE: 0120.
then it asks me to press any key to continue and then a black screen with A:\>_

so i decided to reinstall windows using the installation disk but partway through it a stop F4 BSOD popped up.

asking me to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. it states that if the problem continues to disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing
yet if i cannot access safe mode or windows or even the installation disk how can i possibly fix any problem
