I'm trying to hook up my old HP Laserjet 5000 black and white (11X17) printer to a new computer with Windows 7, via a parallel port especially installed on the new computer for this purpose. I downloaded what was purported to be a Windows 7 driver from HP. But the Windows 7 system on the new computer does not recognize it as a driver. When I look at the name of the driver in the HP downloaded files, the file name says "XP" not "Windows 7. Does anyone know what's going on here?
