Troubles with LAN connection

I searched the forum for similar problems but I couldn't find any solution.
My PC is connected to a router with a standard LAN-cable. Sometimes when I got high traffic (for instance when I download something while streaming a video or playing a game online) my LAN connection just drops. When I troubleshoot it, it resets the local area connector and it works again but if I continue having multiple applications running that use the internet it drops again. only solution so far has been to cancel the downloads/games/streams and only have one running at a time.

I don't know if you need any details about my PC, router or connection but if so, feel free to ask for it.

If you can update your system specs as best you can, (click on the my system specs link at the bottom left of the post and choose update your system specs), and provide the make and model of your router, this will help people to better diagnose and hopefully solve this issue

Ok I updated everything I could remember. I'm not sure about my harddrives so I leave that part blank for the moment. I have to do some research about what the exact modelnames are.
I hope you'll find all the infos you need now :D

OK with that spec you should not be having any problems downloading from the net :)

Hopefully someone may now be able to advise further with more direct experience of your actual components

All I can suggest initially is to check if there is a firmware update for your linksys router as these have been known to have odd issues with Windows 7 (and Vista), in the past.

I tried to download a new firmware from cisco but strangely the latest version available for download is actually a lower version than the one that came with the router.
