True Processor Speed

Other than CPUID, is there any utility out there that will tell you your true Processor speed (NOT the the Manufacturers rating) ??????

No Problems - I just get conflicting results - Is CPUZ correct here ???? Am I at 4 Ghz ? Will try Solarstarshines Utility next.

Tried this one - it says 3.4 Ghz - I always thought CPU-Z was the correct one ?
Whats going on ?????

seems like my proggie and the soft proggie you have are about the same I would think something is off you ever oc it ? or maybe cpuz is saying it runs like a 4 ghz lol

Did some more checking - Apparently CPU-Z is the only utility that correctly shows my 980X overclocked to 4 Ghz. Called several "heavy duty" techs at Alienware - we ran bunch of tests - looks like CPU-Z is only one that measures true core frequency. Still searching the Internet for something else that will show true core frequency.

Did a little comparing using Super Pi - At 4 Ghz runs 1M at approx 10.2 sec

PBCOPTER - Mystery Solved. Alienware had me change all the CPU turbo Ratios (for all 6 cores) from 28 to 30. The Aurora was originally shipped to me by Alienware overclocked to 3.73 Ghz. The Bclk is set to 133.7 Mhz. If you Multiply the 133.7 Mhz by the Turbo Ratio of 28 you get 3743.6 Mhz (or 3.73 Ghz) but if you multiply the Bclk of 133.7 Mhz times the Turbo Ratios that Alienware had me change to 30 then you get 133.7 x 30 or 4011 Mhz (or 4.011 Ghz).

So CPUZ is correct in determining the Processors True Speed - Thanx PBCOPTER Double Click the Image to enlarge the CPUZ data. Just for the record Alienware also had me change the CPU CORE OFFSET to +100 Mv and the TDP limit to 230. Also Checked all the core temps and the GPU temps - everything below 50 degrees C.

Combined with Coretemp you can monitor your "true" processor speed and core temps in a gadget.

All the things above don't really give me my true processor speed because they have a problem reading the real core clock in SLFM mode. I use HWinfo32 and Throttlestop to see the real clock speed, multiplier and C0 and CMod values( to ensure not throttling due to thermal control)

When not gaming I spend a lot of time with 64 Bit Adobe CS5 applications (Mostly Photoshop) and 64 bit Adobe "Lightroom 3".

I have roughly 100,000 "large digital pictures", (.jpg's and raw) and I do a lot of batch conversions on them. I also like to play with Adobe Premier, Video Studio 10 (HD Video), and Photoshop Elements - When you are dealing with picture databases of this size it helps to have some "horsepower".

And it never hurts to be listening to your favorite tunes all at the same time (64 bit Itunes) and surfing the INTERNET -
Thats Our world these days - "Multitasking" The SSD's help a lot too !!!!!!! All on a 30 inch monitor.

Hey we all know in a year or even much sooner there will be a more powerful video card, a faster processor, faster SSD's, etc, etc. Technology never stops.

My system will be viable for a few years then I'll have to start all over again to stay competitive.
