I need to access d:\inetpub\wwwroot on my windows 7 machine from my xp box.

I have shared the folder as \\win7machine\wwwroot

Trying to map the network drive, I have tried to browse the workgroup. I can see win7machine in the workgroup, but clicking the plus button shows nothing. I have tried to connect using different credentials, \\win7machine\myname and the proper password, and then browse the network, same thing.

Typing in \\win7machine\wwwroot for the path with the 7 machine credentials says it can't be found.

I can't find out how to add an xp user to the seven machine.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You can't really add a single user to the permissions list but have you tried adding "Everyone" to the permissions list on the Windows 7 machine? If that doesn't work then most likely your A/V software is blocking sharing functionality which is very typical.

This assumes that both of those machines are in the same workgroup and that you have run the Network set up Wizard on the XP machine.

Yes, I turned of Kaspersky IS and could see the share. I am trying to figure out how to exclude the ip of the connecting computer in the firewall, but can't figure it out.
