Hello everyone,

I have Windows 7 64-bit system Laptop With an extra monitor attached.
Is there some shortcut I could copy to my desktop from Windows/system 32
And it will turn off both of the monitors, Or is there are small program that will do it?
I know this is a crazy question but I leave my computer on at night to listen to music when I go to sleep and I'd like to turn off the monitors quickly so the light doesn't bother my eyes.

Thank you for any help you can provide on this situation :-),

Oh darn, it didn't work oscer1, When I hit the power button, it goes to sleep I think and it actually turns the music off which defeats the purpose of having the computer on while I sleep with music LOL, now I don't know what you mean by F button, I pushed the F button and nothing happens. I tried Brinks I hear with the contacts menu and I don't know why it didn't work but I get an error, It installs perfectly but when I right-click on the desktop and hit turn off display It says application not found in the top it says explorer.exe And I don't understand that because I got a whole bunch of context menus from this website about 10 years ago and they all work, So I don't understand.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

what I mean by "F" buttons is top row F1 TO F12 with combination the of the FN and one of the F1 to F12 their could be a key to turn down brightness of laptop screen when I said power button was meant for the external not the laptop.

Add_Turn_Off_Display_to_Context_Menu

In another post I Downloaded this (Add_Turn_Off_Display_to_Context_Menu) And it installed fine but When I right click and then click on Turn off display, I got an error saying application not found, Now I'm not sure if it was for Windows a because I sure Windows 8 on the page but I was hoping that you have one context menu for Windows 7 that will turn off the display.

Thank you for any help that you can assist me with.

Hit the little button under the right bottom corner of the monitor. Might be in a diff place on some monitors. That's what oscer1 meant, the monitor's power button.

I have no button there And when I pushed F1 through F12 Nothing happens.
About 10 years ago or more I've got a bunch of contrast menus that were registry editorsAnd they work beautifully in another post Brink posted one that puts turnoff monitor in the right click on desktop but when I try to use it it said application not found so I'm not sure if that was for Windows 8 or Windows 7 I have Windows 7, if you know of where the registry editors things that I could just click on add on the right desktop to turn off the monitor that would be a godsend.

Thank you you very much for any help

It's not totally accurate but it usually turns off around five minutes but I got to keep the remote mouse on until that happens and then turn the mouse off gently so it doesn't turn on the display Again,But I really want something that will put in their context menu the right-click and then the option to turn off the displays or something that I could put a shortcut on the desktop and just click on it and I'll turn off the displays, this can't be a way of doing that, I know Brink had a program that does the context menu thing but I think it was For Windows 8 because when I used it it installed fine but like I said it gets an error, Saying application not found.

Thank you for any help on this difficult situation for me.

PS. I really don't like the idea of the display going off in five minutes or three minutes or two minutes or whatever, I like the idea that I can just click and it would go off instantly when I go to sleep with the music on the computer again thanks

Great news. :-)

Basically, anything you download or copy from an external source (ex: Internet) will be blocked by default until you unblock it. Just another security feature to help protect your system.

The link in that step below can give you more details about "Unblock".

Two options for a simple one-click turn monitor off:

Monoff
MonOff Windows Utility

or download nircmd, put it in your windows folder then make a batch file with only one line in it: nircmd monitor off
NirCmd - Windows command line tool

Edit: I see now that you already found nircmd.
