Turn off 'Windows Fax and Scan'

I saw a 3+ year old log file in appdata\temp and some quick searching indicated that it is related to 'Windows Fax and Scan'. I went to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off -> Print and Document Services, but when I cleared the box next to 'Windows Fax and Scan', the system reported 'An error has occurred. Not all of the features were successfully changed.'

What on earth is going on?
