Turn Sleep/Hibernate mode into Shutdown?

Hi all,

For about a year and a half now i have owned a htpc based on a DFI P55-T36 board.
Everything is running great and i'm very content ever since i switched to XBMC software etc. etc.

There's just one problem for me...
No matter what i do, Sleep mode will not work correctly with this machine.

Also...i have recently purchased a Ortek VRC-1100 remote which works very well with MCE and XBMC out of the box.
This remote has a power button which will send the keyboard command to put the machine to sleep (i believe its Win + S?).

Anyway, in both of these cases i would very much like to Shutdown the PC rather then use Sleep mode at all.

Is there any way to disable sleep mode entirely in Windows 7?

So whenever a sleep mode command is sent, the PC will simply shutdown?

Unfortunatly that doesn't seem to change anything.
When i send the sleep command now, the PC will still go to sleep mode.

Can you program the remote to send a Shut down command instead?

I'm affraid not. Since its sending a common windows shortcut combination it can't be captured by anything else.
