Turning off System Restore does not delete RP folders

I have Folders RP145 to RP184 in my System Volume Information\_restore...... folder.

From everything I have read on the net regarding these Restore Point folders they should be purged If I choose to Turn Off System Restore and then Reboot.

This however is not the case. No matter what I do I cannot get rid of these folders.

I use Macrium Reflect to do full backups so System Restore is not necessary.
They are taking up 1.6GB of space and I want to get rid of them.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Are you sure ? It should say Current Usage: 0%

It does say Current Usage 0% but the _restore folder still contains the folders as stated above.
I am wondering if this is left over from my XP computer when I cloned the drive before I upgraded to Windows 7.

I just tested system restore manually and it created a restore point that didn't get put in the said _restore..... folder.
It is in the root of System Volume Information. It also has long file name. no RP....
This is the file name. {7b63365b-7be7-11e3-8177-00a0d5ffffae}{3808876b-c176-4e48-b7ae-04046e6cc752}
The size of the file is 320 MB but the restore file as per current usage in the system protection tab is only 74 MB.
Also I don't know why it is not created as an RP00.. whatever file in the _restore..... folder.
If I create yet another restore point the size is only 80 MB but has the same long name.

The folder with all the old RP entries is _restore...... and they are all months old which makes me think it might be a remnant of my old XP drive.

Can I delete this folder and would Windows re-create it.
I will delete the two restore points I just created to show you it now says 0 % usage.
Then I will take a snip of some of the contents of the above restore folder.

Problem solved.

Googled how to successfully delete the System Volume Information folder as Administrator in Safe Mode.
The folder was recreated by windows and and now every thing is ok.

The _restore{xxx \RPxxx folders were a remnant of my original windows XP.
Windows 7 uses Volume Shadow Copy for System Restore and the file format is totally different.
That is why the files have a long name like:
{7b63365b-7be7-11e3-8177-00a0d5ffffae}{3808876b-c176-4e48-b7ae-04046e6cc752}.

Also they are stored in the root of System Volume Information (not in a subfolder).
