I have done this before, but I cannot get it to work now.
Desktop Machine
I have AMD Graphics Card.
I have HDMI cable connected to HDMI port on card and to one of the ports on the TV --- in fact, it is and has been connected thus since the last time that I used it.
I cannot get the computer to display on the TV.
When I go to Control Panel > Display > Resolution and click Detect, it does not detect the second monitor/TV
I have read through several articles/tutorials and watched several videos and am doing everything as explained.
What am I missing ?
>>>UPDATE: Before messing with things, I had three other HDMI-connected devices working through the TV.
Just to make certain that I didn't have a bad connection/cable, I swapped cables around between the four devices; and, for whatever unfathomable reason, the only device that would work on all four cables was the DISH receiver; it would work flawlessly through all four cables, including the one that is normally connected to the computer.
Before I started messing with this, I had a fifteen-feet HDMI extension cable with the end hanging next to the recliner; I have many times connected various of our cameras to this cable, via the short mini-HDMI x HDMI converter cable that came with one of the cameras; after my troubleshooting endeavor, now, I cannot get any of the cameras I tried to work via this connection.
I can plug the short conversion cable straight into the TV and it works as it should.
I can plug the DISH receiver into this cable that now will not work with the cameras and it will work.
I got tired of going around in circles and losing ground; I plugged the DISH receiver back where it belonged, disconnected the cameras, and --- just so I would know what it was and where it belonged, I plugged the computer-to-TV cable back in the computer.
I turned around toward the TV and, what-the-deuce Stewie, the computer was displaying on the TV screen.
I now suspect I have some sort of issue with the HDMI ports on the TV itself.
Maybe it will fix itself; or maybe, like the old TV sets, it just needs the living daylights shook out of it.
I am open to any suggestions as to what is going on.
Thanks for reading and all help is appreciated.
