So i've had my audio connected via dvi-hdmi cable (750ti) and its been working fine for months.

this morning i blew a bunch of dust out of my system with an air compressor and noticed when i turned it back on it wasn't giving audio anymore.

tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers that didn't work.

The Tv still comes up in the "Set up digital audio" options in the control panel, but windows isn't seeing the audio anymore.

any ideas?

Is HDMI set as the default audio playback device? HDMI audio either is generated internally in the video card or is fed from a digital audio S/PDIF connection on the motherboard. Since you were inside, either the cable connection has been disturbed or if that is not how yours works, reseat the video card and see if that helps (Reseat - with the PC powered off, remove the video card then reinsert making sure its fully and correctly seated on the motherboard).

no its not set because it disappeared completely from the sound options. The only thing that is on there is the audio from my speakers.

The 8800 GTS is a relatively old video card that was originally issued in the Vista days (and based on your Q6600 that also suggests an older system). Many video cards in that era did not have on-board audio, but as I originally noted used S/PDIF digital from the motherboard. If this is the case check the separate cable connecting the S/PDIF to the video card.

If this is not the case, and considering what you have done, I would suspect something in the video card was inadvertently damaged while cleaning.

I have a 750ti, and the audio was working fine before i blew the dust out.

i've done it many times before and idk how that would hurt the card.

Is your system (except for video card) what is listed in your "My System Spec's" or is this an upgraded system?

Too bad. If it was a newer Intel CPU system, Intel has on board video (in CPU) and we could try that for testing.

Try another reseat of the video card (with it powered off, of course).

Is the HDMI cable still connected? If it is disconnect it and see if the HDMI shows up.

Go to the device manager, Uninstall the Video card AND the drivers. Then restart the PC. Windows may or may not install NVIDIA drivers. Either way, reinstall the NVIDIA drivers. See if that changes anything.

If nothing changes, its back to a potential hardware problem.

So i reverted to a restore point in windows from a week ago and its back.

Thanks
