Solved Two unrelated video issues

1) What is safeshare tv? All of a sudden, I'm getting lots of emails with this type of video. You have to select either an mp3 or mp4 download (I don't know the difference), and then use a download site called vloader off of the internet. Is all of this stuff safe to use? It sure is a pain.

2) For no reason I can understand, I can no longer play videos which are in emails, newsletters, on websites, or on Facebook. There's just a blank black or white box where the video should be.

No you don't have to download anything from an unsolicited email. Many are malware or a way to have you pay for something. I try to NEVER use any "downloader", they are problematic as well.

It appears safsher.tv and vloader are Android apps for a phone or Android tablet.

Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features and see if either is installed, if so uninstall them and reboot.

Thanks, Britton30. I didn't download anything, and I read the link you sent. Doesn't sound good. Nothing in my programs from vloader or safeshare tv.

Any ideas about why I can't play my other videos?

None other than the vloader stuff cause those issues.

Please download AdwCleaner:

Save to the desktop.

Close all open programs.
To run the program, right-click AdwCleaner.exe and select: Run as Administrator

Click on Search and confirm the prompt.
After the program finishes, a text file report opens.
Please post the content of the C:\AdwCleaner[Rx].txt in your reply. In the reply window click the "#" icon at the top and paste the log text between the [code ] Paste Here [ /code] tags.

Do NOT perform the delete part before I or someone else can read the log.



To delete:

Run AdwCleaner once again.
This time click on: Delete
When done, please post the content of the C:\AdwCleaner[Sx].txt in your reply as outlined above..

Sorry for the delay. Life. My apologies, but I don't know how to save to desktop from the link. There's no opportunity which presents itself to choose to work as administrator. I know I'm just not seeing these places.

When you click the link you will see something like this in IE, I don't know how other browsers display it, but there will be some option as to what to do with it, at the top or bottom of the browser.



You will have a bug-like icon on the Desktop now. RIGHT click it, a context menu pops up, click Run as Administrator, as shown.

Thanks for the remedial instructions. As soon as I saw the pictures, I remembered. I'd only done those steps once before, obviously not enough times to burn a memory in my aged brain.

Again, I must admit what is likely an obvious oversight. I don't find "search" on the Adw-cleaner. I've got these:

Scan
Clean
Report
Uninstall

The there is a toolbar-look-alike below that which contains these choices:

Services
Folders
File
Shortcut
Registry

What am I missing?

I did run "scan," but nothing was detected.

Yes, clicking scan is right, there' is no "search" option. You may have to redownload Adwcleaner again, run another scan. After it's done you can click the report button, as shown. Upload the file in your next post.
This is the preferred, best way to upload an image or a file to a post.

Press the ALT and PrntScrn keys at the same time, this will capture only the active window to use in Paint or your preferred graphics editor.


You may also upload a photo or image you already have on your PC, as you would a file, without using the Snipping tool.

Nothing happens when I click on "Report." And I can't make the Adw-cleaner window close. The attachment is just a copy of the window so you can see what I see. "Scan" is grayed out, so I can't re-scan. And since I can't get the cleaner window off my screen (even if I try to "X" it out, it won't leave), I'm not sure how to proceed. Should I just download the cleaner again, even with the persistent window still open?

That is very odd. Try clicking the Folders Tab, then the Report button. If nothing happens click Uninstall. Then you will have to download it again and re-run it. Do nothing else after running it except click the Report button.

OK, it found nothing as you said, you can now uninstall it safely. Are you still having video issues?

You can try installing a new Flash Player, be sure you UNCHECK the Optional Offer in the middle before clicking Install.

Yes. Still having video issues as well as odd-looking newsletters that have no paragraphs & no pictures, but rather blue type down the left-hand side of the page, sort of like an index. Can click on blue type, but nothing will open. Have contacted senders, and both report that no other recipients are having that issue.

I think you should stop clicking on anything you don't know what it is. Sometimes that's an open invite, "Sure Mr. Virus, come on in and have a seat."

Can you upload a snip of one of the newsletters?

In addition I would download and install Malwarebytes, decline the free trial offer, then update and run a full scan.

Open Internet Explorer and any other browser you have, on the Tools (gear icon) tab, select Manage Add-Ons, look at the Extensions and Search tabs to see what is running on your Browser. I would disable any but Flash and your Reader. Report back what else you find there.

Since what you describe is pretty clearly a browser hijack of some sort, also download and install SUPERAntiSpyware declining its trial offer and turning it off at startup in its Preferences. Run a Full Scan and clean up anything it finds.

Let us know if this helps as there are other steps including resetting browser to defaults. Does this behavior occur when you trying using another browser like Firefox?

Here's the newsletter. It should be a full-color page with several articles on musicians. Even if I use another browser, I have the same issue with videos & newsletters.

I only have one flash add-on enabled. Nothing else. Several are listed, but are disabled. (I had just installed Adobe using Britton30's link.)

I already have Malware Bytes Pro. It updates itself automatically.

I ran EMI Emergency kit. It found nothing. I wasn't sure about Kapersky; couldn't tell if it was free & didn't know how it would behave with MSE.

Ran Super Anti-Spyware complete scan. It found 248 ad cookies, plus 0 memory and 0 registry problems. I removed the 248 tracking cookies. Interesting since I useDuck Duck Go as my main search engine unless it totally bonks a search at which time I use "in private" and a Google search.

Work through the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 to go over your system, starting the establishing a Clean Boot, utilizing the System Resources to check for Problems and Solutions, culling the log for repeat errors to resolve, try MSE in place of your current AV to test the difference since it provides the least problems.

I'd also go to Internet Options>Advanced and reset to defaults, including all personal settings. You may have to reinstall Flash.

Mate the Kaspersky runs from boot it doesn't require Windows to be booted at all and it certainly will not affect any of the on board stuff you have already but it does take a while to run.

This thread is solved - after some Private Messages and a TeamViewer session with nottaclue9.

IE9 was reset (total reset).

The Temporary Internet Files were deleted.

These steps were followed to remove Flash.
nottaclue9 was able to run the uninstaller without any problems, but removing these folders...
%WinDir%\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
%WinDir%\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
%appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player
%appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player
...proved to be problematic.
There was one stubborn old folder under %appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player that did not want to be deleted.

Flash was re-installed using the stand alone installer from here:

The website shown in post #17 displays correctly and Facebook videos play
