MAK = multiple activation keys. As an individual, you don't get to purchase these types of licences. What site did you purchase it from?

No idea who now. All that sort of stuff was on a HDD long since gone. All i got nowadays is the CD i burned from the download file.

So where does this leave me?

It leaves you with an unlicensed system, since you were sold a counterfeit.
You will have to purchase a genuine new Windows license from a reputable dealer, and use the Product Key from that to make your current install genuine.

that's a dilemma. So far googling online sites every dealer is accused of being illegal. Shops r closed 4 2 more days here. Any gen. online dealers someone can link 4 me?

... the other option is the MS Get Genuine Kit - which also has a second Software License Terms restricting it to use on the affected machine., so is effectively an OEM license with added MS support for 90 days...
Unfortunately you'd have to wait for the machine to go out of grace period, then attempt validation, and follow the links when it fails...

so this activation issue only happened this week when i re-formatted/re-installed. So this pop-up warning will last how long? So if I dont buy a new CD until i go into town in 4-5 days will this win 7 OS still be OK?

The OS will be OK for the next 25 days - then go into Reduced Functionality Mode with a black background and nag popups (and not much worse apart from the lack of non-security updates, and no MSE) until you get Genuine again.
