This is a brand new build, I am getting the following message after several attempts "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannnot proceed". If I restart windows I get the same message, I also get the same message when I restart in safe mode. I have tried several clean installs and always come back to the same issue.

Asus H87M-PRO Motherboard
Intel i5 Haswell
EVGA GTX 650 TI Boost
2- 4 gb Vengence memory

First attempt with graphics card installed resulted in black screen after first restart. Removed graphics card to go with integrated graphics. I am seeing numerous posts of similiar instances, but no real defined solution.

Unplug all other HD's and peripherals,

Boot into BIOS setup, reset to defaults, save changes. (If an EFI BIOS you'll need to decide if you want UEFI BIOS vs. Legacy BIOS. If UEFI follow these special steps for Install, otherwise enable Legacy BIOS or Compatibility Support Module to proceed with normal install.) Set DVD drive first to boot, HD second, set SATA controller to AHCI, Save changes and Exit.

Then boot into Windows 7 installer DVD or flash stick burned or written using tool and latest ISO for your licensed OS version here.

At first installer screen Press Shift + F10, or enter System Recovery Options to open a Command Box, type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL="WINDOWS 7"
ACTIVE
EXIT
EXIT

Next click Install Now, then Custom install to Clean Install Windows 7 to the partition you created. If it fails then report back at which step and the verbatim error message.

In addition read over these steps to understand the tools and methods which work best to get and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The steps are the same for retail.

After install you can adjust partition size or Create new partitions for data, etc. in Disk Mgmt. You are creating the partition here for the purpose of wiping the HD and marking Active which overcomes certain install failures.

Unsuccessful install

Thank you sir for the instrutions. I followed them as written and resumed installation of windows. I successfully went through all of the processes.
1. copying windows files
2. expanding windows files
3. installing features
4. installing updates
5. completing installation
6. notification that windows would restart in 10 sec
7. setup is updating register settings
8. setup is starting services

About 20 sec into starting services a blue screen appeared with a lot of information. I did see the word failure, but unfortunately the screen stayed up for about 1 sec so I was unable to get any actionable info. Then the following message appeared.

"The computer restarted or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click "ok" to restart the computer, and then restart installation".

This just continues in an unending loop. I tried to restart in safe mode, but got basically the same message.

If there was anyway to capture the info on the blue screen I am sure it would be helpful.

Also, I did install latest bios on mobo.

Thank you,
