Hi,

I'm trying to extract a zip file that I made about 6 months ago that is 15.5GB according to Windows Explorer when compressed. However when I try to extract the file it claims it is unable to continue as it needs another 5.99PB. Obviously I don't have that much storage, but when I try and extract individual files it says that they arr corrupt.

Please help me, its got important files in that I cannot lose.

Thanks,
Tomtom

If your zip files did indeed become corrupted, there are various freeware utilities out there that can possibly fix them. A Google search for "fix corrupt zip file" will yield several results.

you must free your hdd to more free space than the file you zipped, then you can extract that

Roderunner's suggestion appears to have worked. It is extracting now. What puzzles me is how the 3rd party software will extract it just fine but windows explorer won't do it. It makes no sense to me at least.

Thanks to both of you.

Microsoft are still trying to do things right, so we can't complain.
