Unable to get speaker working although device manager says working ok

Hi,
Asus MoBo P7P55D LE, I tried to update my drivers using a program that detects new drivers. Unfortunately when it had finished, I did not have any sound. Speakers plug into the rear panel and headphone into the front panel. Been into the device manger and all devices are working correctly. Went to the Asus site to download the via/nvidia drivers but when they downloaded, I used the setup but windows says it cannot find the drivers, also used the Mobo disk and again windows says cannot find drivers, so at a loss. I somehow managed to get the front headphone jack working but has a permanent hiss on it. Any suggestions would be appreciated

First off NEVER use one of the sites that scans your system to see if you need driver updates. There too many posts of people having problems after using one of those sites.

You can Rollback the drivers that were installed. Go to the Device Manager, display each of the devices (one at a time) and in the properties for the device. click on Driver Tab and then click Rollback Driver. This should get you back to where you were before you did whatever update.

Thanks for that, unfortunately it did not work, think I will have to format the hdd and start again

If you do, save your user data to some other media as it will be lost when you format and install.

Story so far:
I have tried to re-install the dirver from the Mobo and Gigabyte disk, but cannot get windows to access the Setup.exe file
I have three HDD C: D: E: my dvd burner is drive letter F: When I insert the disk in drive F: and try to exe the setup, windows says the following: Windows cannot find F:\setup.exe make sure you typed the name correctly and try again.
Well this has got me stumped

Something in the Windows OS is messed up. Sadly it looks more and more like the reinstall will be required.

Is that the full path to the location of the file? My guess is that the disc that contains multiple drivers if it is one that is provided with the motherboard so it will be something along the lines of F:\DIRECTORY NAME\setup.exe

I used to have a Gigabyte motherboard (Z77 UD5H) and the Gigabyte disc that came with it had an autorun program that would install everything. But it also had a menu to select which drivers you wanted to install. From memory, I think it would show which were installed and which were not, although if you want to reinstall one that was listed as installed you are able to do that.

One note, DO NOT install the EasyTune program as it can cause (DPC) Latency problems plus others.
