Unable to Import BCD Backup Using CMD

I am running windows 7 64bit. I have previously upgraded to win8 and downgraded back to win7 using windows own upgrade software.

Had problems with my computer and attempted to rebuild the bcd using a repair disc and cmd, however now the computer loads up win8 repair console and does not boot into win7.

I have backed up the bcd at c:\bcd_backup

I am typing - x:\windows\system32 > bcdedit /import c:\bcd_backup

It doesn't work?

I cant try that as I cant boot into windows. I tried making a bootable version of EasyBCD but I think it's not possible...

You could try a Startup Repair.

Drive letters are different from the recovery environment.

To find the letter of your windows partition:

At cmd type notepad

When notepad opens, clcik file, then Save. Now you can browse and find your windows partition drive letter.

Assuming it is D, at cmd type:

bcdboot d:\windows

( Obviously replace d: with whatever you find you find as your windows partition letter.)

Yes the drive letters were different, I have restored the previously backed up bcd. Thanks for your time! now onto the next problem, will post a new thread for that.
