Unable to install updates, error 800737B

Haven't been able to update for awhile now. Followed instructions...

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

SURT, runs for hours with nothing happening
SFC SCAN, 'windows resource protection could not perform the following operation'
Code, 800737B or perhaps 0x8007370B
SURT and code log saved to desk top as per instructions.

I made minor progress, previously I have 2 codes but now its only 1. 'Office' updated unprompted so something changed.

Any and all help is appreciated!!

Have you ran disk cleanup and told it to do windows update cleanup?

Disk cleanup say 0% which prevents me from getting to 'update cleanup' Are there any other alternatives?

Disk cleanup was scheduled to defrag weekly, I turned off auto defrag hoping it'll eventually let me defrag and get to 'update cleanup;.
