Solved unable to run chkdsk, corrupt

Hi
have a laptop running win7 x86 ultimate, been playing up a bit and am trying to run chkdsk but it just won't. have a log file from an sfc scannow, but unsure how to deal with what it says.
any help would be appreciated please?

Hey, there is a known issue with a recent Windows Update (KB3022345), it causes an irrepairable corruption warning (which is a false report, the files are not corrupt in reality). If you have this update installed then do one of the following:
- Uninstall this update (it is Windows 10 preparation update) or
- Run the fix from The Tech Cookbook – Windows 7 update (KB3022345) causing corrupt files

After the above, run another SFC /scannow. If you still get a corruption, attach it in your next post.

thanks for reply, have been working on this since original post, have found this update, uninstalled and fixed via the link you posted. still having troubles, have full cbs log file from latest sfc /scannow
any help here would be great as i'm starting to get a bit lost, looks like autochk file may be a problem

There's only the one problem in the SFC...

I'll post a fix protocol in a few minutes.

I've uploaded a file - bdnaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)

Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
At the prompt type
DIR C:\bdnaa
hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try
DIR D:\bdnaa
or
DIR E:\bdnaa



The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...



XCOPY <drive>:\bdnaa <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h



(e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )



run the command (it should take almost no time) and when the prompt returns, type
EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply

really appreciate your help here
have downloaded the file and saved on to 'c' drive on laptop, hammered f8 on reboot but the menu that came up didn't have any 'repair my computer' option 3 different safe modes at top, 7 others below that with 'start windows normally' at the bottom.
don't want to do anything wrong here, can you advise please (dell D630 a19 bios revision, win7x86sp1)

You can boot with windows 7 repair disk.

I guess you need to install Windows with the repair option for it to show in Advanced Boot Options menu. Maybe can be installed later too, no idea.

have a second D630 in the house too, have checked on that one and it does have the 'repair my pc' option, bit puzzled as to why the one that is goosed doesn't?

have used the cmd prompt from the windows install disc to run NoelDP's code, seemed to do this ok, have run sfc /scannow again, here's the cbs log

That seems to have worked - the SFC is now clear.

The reason there's no option to run 'Repair my computer' is because there's no System Reserved partition - it's that which makes it possible.
There isn't really any way to post-install it, short of a clean install as far as I know.
