Hi again, having big problems trying to get rid of RealPlayer. I've removed it from Task Manager, but when trying to remove "RealNetworks" from Programme files (x86) it's saying "the action can't be completed because a file or a folder in it is open in another programme" which is impossible as there isn't another file open. Then at the bottom a box opens saying try again with the same result each time....?

Much appreciate any help thanks as it's become a "RealPest" ! :(

Reboot into safe mode by pressing F8 at the boot screen and then try to uninstall it. More than likely there is a process running in the background. Otherwise, try searching for the tool "revo uninstaller" on google. This may force the uninstall even with the software in demo mode.

First time ever with a laptop and only had it for about 5/6 weeks so haven't had to use safe mode before. Kept pressing F8 but nothing happened just started up as usual....?

You can try option 2 of this tutorial,

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/69585-safe-mode.html

Here's the link for Revo Uninstaller as well, choose the free version,

Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems

See if Revo can do it first, if not then try the safe mode option.

If it's not listed in programs and features though you might want to try installing it again.

The last time I had a piece of software that wouldn't uninstall, I used Linux Mint installed on a flash drive to remove the offending software from the Windows OS.

Thanks everyone tried everything but nothing worked unfortunately not even System Restore of all things. However thinking back to my old Windows XP I suddenly remembered a small piece of software called Unlocker from ages ago which I think unlocks Windows explorer files that say files in use etc. as it said in my first post and it worked ! So no fault of Real Player and I can't recommend it highly enough as I've now spent the last 3 hours trying to solve the problem....

Free download if anyone's interested but watch out for the ads on the way !

Unlocker Free Download

Thanks again ! :D

Arcadian, I've had the very same problems (uninstalling Real Player & Adobe) with Windows Explorer stating that files are 'in use', which as 'you will understand' was an impossibility!
After hours of frustration & turmoil I came across your recommendation of downloading 'Unlocker". Admit, a bit afraid of these so-called freebie downloads, but again, had been going no-where ....
Arcadian, cannot 'THANK YOU' enough ..... 'UNLOCKER' really does work! :D
