Unable to update Directx6 to a higher version

Hi,

When i installed Windows 7 32bit and run dxdiag I saw that the version is directx 6. So i tried installing Microsoft DirectX® End-User Runtime 9.0c, still dxdiag shows version 6. Back when I was using XP Service pack 3, I am able to update directx up to version 9 and 10.

using NVidia GeForce 8600M.

Ideally you should do a clean install (Install from scratch) that reduces the chance of stuff like that happening.

Yes I did a clean install of Win7.

That's just odd. Any chance of posting a screenshot of the dxdiag screen?

XP SP3 should have been DX 9.0c to begin with. You say had DX 10 on XP, was it one of those unofficial ports?

However if it was a completely clean installation, then that shouldn't be an issue.
