Hello. I bought a computer yesterday. When I realized I hadn't had a wireless card installed I took it back and had one put in. I don't know if that has anything to do with this problem.

When I go to Control Panel>Devices, my hard drive shows an exclamation point. I rightclick>troubleshoot and am told I need to reinstall the device driver. After applying fix I am told "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter has a driver problem - Not fixed". So I go to the device manager and find said adapter under "Network adapters", which still has an exclamation point next to it. I rightclick>update driver software and am told "The best driver for your device is already installed".

This is my first Windows machine in years, so I'm not sure how to go about fixing this, or even what the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter is or if I need it. Earlier today the computer did not want to connect to my wireless network, while all my other devices did. It seems ok after unplugging/plugging in the router.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would advise right clicking on the device that has the excalamation point and choosing "Uninstall", then select the check box to delete the driver software as well. Reboot and see if Windows detects and tries to install the software again, if not you can:
1) Go the the manufactuers website to get the drvier
2) Use the driver CD - if you got one for that device

NOTE - If this is for your wifi adapter, you will need to connect your computer to the router with an ethernet cable to get the driver from the web.

That seemed to do it. Thanks!
