Unchecked Password Box but it still wants a password

I unchecked the box that says users must enter a password to use this computer. I still get a message at every logon that the password or user is wrong. Huh?

Why does Microsoft have to make things so hard? Why can't they simply have a single user option that eliminates all passwords and the complicated director structure that results?

Hello Kuhn, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'm assuming that you are referring to: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/377-log-automatically-startup.html

If so, then try it again to retype your password. You may have made a mistake the first time which would cause a incorrect password issue.

If it still does it afterwards, then change your user account password, retype it again to setup automatic logon with the new password. This may reset it to have it work again.

Kuhn... You say you are unchecking the box that says enter password. You are going on to step 6 and putting in your password right?

You have to make sure that after checking the box, you type in the password correctly, otherwise its not going to work

It sounds like to me what you want to do is not have any password. This is what I have done. I just did not enter one at all and I log on automatically. Go to the tutorial that Brink gave you and it should direct you in doing that. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/377-log-automatically-startup.html
