LS,
have restored my notebook with a system image via the recovery console on the win7 x64 ult DVD, but forgot to backup some data...
Am now running recovery software, but would prefer if it is possible to undo the system restore and restore my notebook to its state just before I used the systemimage to get back to my clean system...
Is that even possible ?
Or is format recovery software my best bet ?
Krill Ontrack Easy Recovery is running as I type !

Thanx,
lucas.

If you have restored a system image, all data is overwritten. There is no way to recover it or to put it back as it was. The only way to so is if you have another image from a previous date.

Some recovery software might get some stuff back. I would try this first;

DiskDigger | Undelete and recover photos, documents, music, videos, and more!

Format recovery software is useless because you have not formatted anything, you have overwritten what was there with an image.

Trying to use it will only cause you more problems. If Diskdigger or Recuva does not work;

http://www.piriform.com/recuva

( But always try Diskdigger first, it runs in memory and does not overwrite data you are trying to recover) then it is unlikely that you can do anything much.
