Hi
Win7
My data usage thru ISP has increased a large amount. From 30G per month to 100 G per month. Not sure what it is.
Have router with 2 wireless laptops and 1 internet capable tv (cable and not used much)
My ISP has proved several dates and times from last week for data usage of about 900M to 2.5G. How do I find this on Win7

I would like to know with say the dates/time supplied how to ascertain which laptop was used and what the IP address was the data obtained from.

Possible that someone has used my wireless but I do have the security on the router (I think).

Can I find this in Win7 rec ords ? or what to use to find out.
Thanks
Charles Harris

If you have no security on your wireless connection then you will have no idea who has been connecting to your service. This is a very dangerous position to be in and I should set WAP seurity straight away. Remember if someone sits outside you premises connected to your wireless system you are liable for whatever is downloaded, well you would be in the UK and I have every reason to believe that this is also the case in New Zealand!
Do you know how to set the security system in your router. If not thepost back here with the make and model of your router and one of us will find the IP address that you need to get access!

If you right click on the Internet Icon on the right hand bottom of the task bar & select "Open Network & Sharing Centre", when that opens select "Local Area Connection" & that will open a small window which will show your up & down load data for the session since you last started your computer.
It does not keep a grand total only the total for the current session.

You router may keep a monthly total of internet data, mine does, but it does not itemise any equipment only a total.

What I mentioned about about clicking on the Internet Icon could be used on your other computer so you could check it's session total well.

Thanks guys for your answers.
My router is a TP Link TD-W8901G It is WPA2 -PSK (not sure what that means)

Is that ok ? I do need to know the web page being accessed so that I know what to stop.
Thankyou

Charlie

Read up on your wireless router here:

http://www.tp-link.com/Resources/document/Troubleshooting_Guide_for_Tren.pdf

If you should need further assistance on setting up security on your router properly, I highly suggest calling the free support number for your product and have them walk you through it.

That Microsoft tool will not help you.

More links/info:

http://compnetworking.about.com/od/homenetworking/ht/routerconfigure.htm

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/making-network-more-secure#1TC=windows-7

Every router can vary on the setup pages, which is why I suggest calling the company to be sure you are doing everything right.

Your awesome for reading this.
I'm with Ranger4 on this but i doubt this software is what you are looking for. Going back to my first post have you yet set security on your wireless connection?
if you haven't yet done so do it now. Try this to get into the router:

Step 1
Open the web browser and in the address bar type in: http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://tplinklogin.net. Then press Enter.
Snap16adsad.jpg
Note:
The LAN IP changes by model. Please find it on the bottom label of the product.
Step 2
Type the username and password in the login page. They are both admin by default.
Then navigate to the Wireless section where you can set the WPA security.
Come back here if you get stuck!
