Ok i did that and it worked and said any errors that occur will be reported in event manager in the next 15 mins, Which I've had none. But still doesn't show up the cable.

Have you set the default gateway up statically?

The gateway might be set at an address that doesn't match the router.

I think i recall doing something like that, but no idea how to find it / change it back seeing as my routers local area connection IP address wont show up unless that is also the same as the wireless IP?

Instead of clicking on my signature link, just click on System Specs at the bottom of your post...

Oh, and you should direct your posts at specific people. I knew you were talking about my signature, but others were probably scratching their heads wondering what the heck you were talking about.

I tried some of those Belkin powerline adapters. The only way I could ever get them to work was between 2 sockets that were on the same wall, in the same room, about 10 feet apart. I ended up returning them and getting my money back.

Wish I could be of more help. Hope you have better luck than I did!

If it is a notebook they have a "Switch LAN/WLAN" option in the BIOS and when the wireless is turned on the integrated network adapter doesn't work even if you put a network cable connected to a network switch. Shut off your wireless card and then see is there a difference. Also the integrated card can be shut off from the BIOS if it is a personal computer/notebook.

You can try booting up a linux based OS. Like Ubuntu 9.10 it has the option to try it without a change to your pc. I suggest trying the network card with a cable then and if it doesn't work it is a hardware problem. Many Linux OS supports trying them without really installing them on the HDD. You can also try hiren's boot cd and boot mini windows xp but I don't think it supports many drivers for network controllers. best bet is ubuntu/Fedora/Suse because they have plenty of drivers.
