Can anyone help me to understand why my computer with Windows 7, has become unstable. Almost evere half hour, windows says that it has recovered from a system fail. Even with a clean installation. I guess that it is a memoryproblem but have no proof. My machine is with build in memory, so there is nothing to do if this is the case. But can onyone look at my minidump file and maybe get at clue to my problem?

Regards
Kristian, DK

First step to try if you suspect memory: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

I, too, recommend the RAM test for your situation.

Also try disconnecting any Western Digital RAID devices you may have, see what happens.

Remove Avast with this tool: http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear5.exe

Replace it with MSE: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials

If the BSODs persist, enable driver verifier: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/101379-driver-verifier-enable-disable.html

Wait for a few BSODs, then follow these directions: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html

Avast is a very good program; however, it has been known to cause BSODs on some systems. To eliminate all possible causes, we should remove it.

If we determine Avast is not the cause, you can go ahead and reinstall it when the BSODs are fixed.

Honestly, I can't say. Is this what RAM you have?

If so, you can follow part 3 here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

If you can't test individual sticks, you're best to take it to the shop so they can diagnose/replace it.

Well the one stick makes errors no matter what slots it sits in. The other makes 8 pass without any errors. So I guess the problem is the one defect stick. Since the sticks aren't so expensive anymore, I will order a new one on monday.

Good job troubleshooting, I agree with that conclusion.

Just make sure you buy a stick identical to the one you are replacing, including brand.
