Just signed up so I can ask about that error in the title. Been using 7 ultimate 32 bit and that's the error I get with the Net framework update and 2 others that were with it.
I've tried resetting the updates, ran the SUR tool, tried a few registry cleaners and fixers but the error still shows up even when I do a standalone install they still fail.
here's the entries from the update tool that seem to say whats broke.

I'm thinking if I can get the files or dll's back in the registry it might work again, pretty sure system restore wont fix them and hoping to not have to burn down the install and start from scratch again.
I spose I could do a repair install too but just hoping to fix it and move on without having to redo the whole mess.
Other then that everything I use seems to work fine and not having any persistent errors or BSOD issues.
I'm running a 9600 AMD quad core with 4 meg of ram and a ATI 3870x2, pretty sure everything's good enough to work just want to sort it out, thanks.

Thanks, trying the dutch? reset thingy now, I guess it didn't work:cry: Well a system repair might be in my future at this rate as I think I've tried all the other fixes in that thread.
Something must have gotten hosed just enough in the registry to cause this error but not stop 7 from working OK.
Maybe it's time to upgrade to 64...
I'll watch here and see if any other ideas come up and thanks for the link.

OK, done. looks like a master config file for the install I guess. I can't figure out anything that's in there but I guess you can.

Of course I can read includes in this file, but where is link to uploaded file?

On rapidshare when you upload file it shows URL address to uploaded file -please paste this address here.

For clarify:

You have corrupted a few files in WinSxS files and you have to replace them.

Well I wasn't sure how you wanted to handle getting the link so I waited to see what was up.
Anyways here it is RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting
That's a huge file uncompressed, anyways, thanks, hope this points me to what I need to fix/replace.

I have the win7 disk, it's not the direct ultimate copy as I did the anytime upgrade after it was installed with my ultimate serial and it added whatever was needed and was happy after that.
I'm going to try the repair disk you posted, maybe it's easier and anyways looks like a really good thing to have on hand.
Downloading the torrent now and will give it a go when everything's in place and a disk is burned.
I spose it MIGHT be possible if I had a early enough restore point it might fix it but doubt I have one that goes back far enough anyways.
I was having trouble with the desktop crashing after I did some updates or something and I did a repair on bootup finally and I think that's when the registry got fubared.
I guess I need to start running ghost or something again just in case but after my latest upgrade when the RC was over I deleted the files that had gotten pretty big and just haven't reloaded it.
Thanks for the help and clear instructions and I'll let you know how it goes.

And it worked:party: Thanks a lot Flavius for the help and files to fix it. For some reason C became G drive so it didn't want to take telling it to go to C drive but once I figured that out and made sure it was typed exactly like you said except for changing the drive letter it worked it's magic.
Took forever checking and copying things so I figured either it's hosed or it's working like expected and waited it out.
Reran the SUR tool and it found no errors at all so I ran the updates and all is well.
I think it defaulted to G becuase I have a bunch of optical drives in here and it must have loaded all of them first, then the boot drive.
I saw it said it found win7 on drive G but figured whatever... once it threw the can't find error I changed it to G and off it went.
I wonder if that file will help others with similar hard to find errors in their registry they don't have a clue about. It said it installed 44 files and didn't find any errors etc so a lot must have gotten deleted or damaged last time I tried to fix something.
The repair disk you listed worked nicely, took a while to load everything but it was just about self explanatory after that. I printed out your instructions as I knew I wouldn't get it once I was in DOS mode trying to decipher what I wrote out.
Thanks again!

I don't think so.Even if two persons have the same WU error which relate to corruptions in WinSxS or in Packages folder almost always they have completely different damages, and each person need separately solutions.Only diagnosing problems is always the same -solution only per person.

BTW
You can now delete Packs folder on your system partition-you don't need it any longer

Yeah, the way that thing was laid out it seemed like a generic replace anything bad type of deal but obviously after what you just said you tailored it to my individual setup.
It's really nice to have the updates just work and see not one error in the SUR test anymore.
I would have just replaced what I thought was bad myself but didn't have a clue where to get the files I needed and even if I did I probably wouldn't have found em all.
I really do appreciate the help and hope you keep helping those of us that are just about to give up and start over or live with a issue
