Updates taking forever (again!) - is KB3161664 safe to install?

It was all good for me until yesterday. I had recently upgraded to Windows 7 and needed to install a bunch of updates (200 or so). I installed them in series and it was all good. Searching would take no more than 30 minutes. About 100 of 200 installed successfully, one failed, the rest I didn't have a chance to install.

Now searching takes forever again (10 hours last night without success). I think it's not just me, I think it's related to newer updates released Tuesday.

I read that KB3161664 speeds up searching. Anyone tried it? Is it safe?

Follow-up to this:

I installed the update in title of thread. After about 2h the search ended successfully!

Make sure before you install this, you first turn off updates and stop wuauserv.

Restart and let it search for couple of hours.

Worked for me!
