HP Pavilion dv6-6152ea laptop

I had been trying to sort my laptop out , having had problems since before Christmas - running slow / hanging /freezing / poor mouse response etc. Was getting not responding message in windows explorer as well as in firefox.
have had it for 2 years and until the week before Christmas it had behaved perfectly and played all of my games. (Big Fish Games - Hidden Object / Puzzle / Adventure etc).

I checked for viruses, malware etc. Uninstalled and reinstalled the Games Manager. No difference at all and computer got slower and slower. It has a switchable graphics system, which kept freezing or disappearing, so I had to keep on going back to restore points.
So this week I decided to do a factory reset. Have started to reinstall programs (MSE first, and Revo uninstaller) Laptop has spent last 12 hours installing windows updates and finds more each time I boot up.

BUT it is still running slow and keeps hanging for upto 30 sec at a time. I went to the HP page for my laptop. But the bit that is supposed to say which drivers need updating is not working and I am not sure what to do. The graphics drivers that are in use now are not mentioned and the ones there to not show previous versions. Is there a way of keeping these safe somewhere in case I need to roll back. I do not want the ones that were in place before I did the reset. It was after the installation of those that the trouble started. ( That was after I let the computer update AMD's Catalyst Control Centre to Radeon Crimson Edition. This removed the switchable graphics option and there were no drivers on my computer to do a rollback)
Drivers in place now are 8.830.6.100
Thanks

Previous ones were 8.882.2.3000

Hello Bluejay44 and Welcome to Windows 7 Forums :)

A common mistake with users is to update their graphic drivers through Windows update or the manufacturer of the graphics chip, instead of the manufacturer of the system itself.

OEMs use proprietary drivers, which are available only directly through their support page.

I would suggest you remove the Graphics Drivers you have installed and replace them with the ones from HP.

Thanks for reply. The present ones are part of the original set up from HP, having done a factory restore.
(The previous one (before reset) had been found by the laptop itself. I had tried 2 others from the HP support page but kept getting the message that my computer did not meet requirements or failed to install message. So I had rebooted not knowing what else to do).
There are 5 graphic divers on the support page, 1 gives 1rst message, one gives 2nd message but did install, however afterwards there was no switchable graphics option. So I do not know if any of the other drivers are meant to be updated as well for the system. Support assistant just says the laptop is out of warranty.

Hi Roy, just checking before I start.
In the device manager, where do I click to update the chipset driver?
I have only done graphic drivers before.
Thanks

I am getting the same message for the graphic driver that my computer does not meet minimum requirements.
Tried again. It seemed to accept the AMD driver but refused the Intel one then said it already had most recent one.
When I checked driver version they still showed 8.830.6.1000
