Solved Upgrade: EVGA 450 GTS to EVGA 740 GT

Hi,
I doubt it matters most if not all gpu's are more dependent on wattage of the power supply
That and if you have a pcie slot
Otherwise cpu does not matter.

I wanted to get the 1050 but every website I came across doesn't have the I5 2300 listed as a compatible CPU with the card, and a few on Tom's Hardware claim there'd be bottlenecking issues.

So it looks like I may be getting this 750, I just don't understand why they say it takes two slots.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-750Ti-2GB-GDDR5-Graphics-Card/36009451

Doesn't the 450 GTS take two slots as well?

So it looks like I may be getting this 750, I just don't understand why they say it takes two slots.
It takes up one physical slot in the PC, and the fan shroud covers the adjacent slot, rendering it unusable. That's why they say it is a two slot card.

I just checked my EVGA 450 GTS, it also takes up two slots. But while I was in the case I did check to see if the PSU cable to the card was loose, it wasn't, and I checked to make sure the card was still properly seated, it is.

In short, the slot thing isn't an issue and the only difference is the 450 GTS has a cable from the PSU connected to it while the 750 TI doesn't have a PSU connector, according to the reviews.

I still have cold feet because its the last thing to try to fix this green pixel issue so if I get the card and still have the issue, I'll cry or something.

Ok Dev mate unless I am terribly wrong the 750 Ti does not use a cable - I have the preceding version of this card the 650 Ti and it just plugs into the board and I am assuming gets power from the motherboard.

But I stand to be corrected.

It looks nearly identical to the 450 GTS except it only has one DVI port instead of two, and has some other kind of port instead.

Originally, both GTX 750 and the Ti variant is single-slot. Unfortunately, retailers (idk how they're called but i'll give an example like EVGA, MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte) kind of needs to have their brains checked because there's no point in putting two fans in a card that won't consume more than 75-80W.

Both cards doesn't require a 6-pin PCI-E power connector since both don't use that much power. The reason behind some have 6-pin required is because their either OCed or have too much ridiculous designs.
