Upgrading BIOS quick question

Hi all,

I have an old HP G6000 laptop that I have wiped, put XP on and replaced the faulty Wifi card inside it.

The laptop is not detecting the card, not even as an unknown device in device manager and I was wondering if updating the BIOS would help?

The problem is, the HP site only lists BIS upgrades for Vista and I was wondering if I could upgrade the BIOS using the Vista upgrade or do I need to use an XP one?

I'd check the BIOS to see if something didn't reset or become disabled, first off.

Check the manual. On many systems when the PC first boots it will display the key to press to enter the BIOS.

I would only use a BIOS update if HP endorse it for your specific PC and Operating system and you have a good reason to believe it will solve the problem. I would be exploring updating the driver for the new card first.

Is that the correct name of your laptop ? Only these 2 come up when doing a search.

In my opinion updating a BIOS is not OS specific. If you found a driver for Vista 32 bit it wouldn`t hurt to try it.
