Upgrading from 7201 to 7264 without DVD

Hello everyone

I have the 7264 ISO, and I know that I'll need to edit the cversion.ini file to upgrade to 7264.

I don't want to burn a DVD for this upgrade, so I just wanted to know what I have to do after editing the cversion.ini file.

Is it enough if i sun the setup.exe from HDD with Vista compatibility?

A little light on this please.

Hello Makubex,

You could run the Installation setup inside windows if you want to upgrade

Here's How:

1. Extract the ISO using winrar or any other archiver.
2. Run the Installation Setup.
3. Read - Here


In my case I forgot to edit the cversion.ini file.. but it worked anyway.. (from build 7260-7264)

dont forget the rc keys will not work on 7264 but rearm will for 3 times

Mount the ISO using whatever virtual drive app you prefer (Virtual Clone Drive i would suggest because i know this works with Win7, havent tested any of the others yet, i know that most didn't work when i last looked)

If you're looking to install a 64bit then this is not possible from 32bit without burning to DVD. AFAIK it's (64 -> 64) or (32 -> 32), can't go (64 ->32) or (32 -> 64) (I'm just saying this just in case anyone else reads and needs a guide, heck, why only help 1 person when you could help a dozen in the same post )

Install as normal, your pc should reboot straight into the Installation then you can install as if you were running from DVD, other than being able to format the drive your running from of course, if you want to do that then the only way is to burn it, but as your looking to upgrade i figure you don't want to do that anyhow. So yeah, just mount the image with Virtual Clone Drive (Or others if you prefer) and you can use it as if you had the DVD inserted.
